Motion and force question?

tropicalflight77 asked:

A flatbe truck is carrying a 2500kg crate of heavy machinery. The coefficient of static friction between the crate and the bed of the truck is 0.75. What is the maximum rate at which the driver can decelerate when coming to a stop and still avoid having the crate slide on the truckbed?

How would I figure this question out?

    Let:
    m be the mass of the crate,
    g be the acceleration due to gravity,
    R be the normal reaction of the truck on the crate,
    u be the coefficient of static friction.
    P be the accelerating force,
    a be the acceleration of the crate.

    For vertical equilibrium:
    mg = R

    Horizontally:
    F = ma

    If there is no slipping:
    F
