no its not really harmful its just a better feeling i guess lol…my dad has MAJOR problems with his back and is on several pain pills…he drinks beer all the time and is completely fine…and my dad is the same way though sometimes i think hes addicted to pain pills but sometimes hes in alot of pain..he misses alot of work because of it and has had major surgery on his back before…and my mom gets VERY angry…we basically all have to sit there and tell her we know its stressful for her to be having to pay all the bills sometimes but none of really know what hes feeling in his back…but when she starts getting angry she just needs to leave the house and go have time to herself and cool off

yes it can be a problem and there can be risks anytime you take a pain pill and drink alcohol with it. the problem is alcohol is a depressant drug and so are most pain pills..so it is kinda like “double dosing” it depresses your breathing your heart rate and slows you down. so depending on what kinda pills and what kinda alcohol it could be very bad for his health if he continues..if he is taking them to simply “sleep better” he needs to contact a doctor for a safe medication for sleep. even if he says hes not addicted..he may experience withdrawal when not taking the pills if he is used to them and this can also be life threatening…

through personal experiance pain pills and any other meds prescribed by a doctor only work if taken as directed adding alcohol is a suicidal mixture plusthe meds will not work as needed the alcohol so to say deactivates what the meds were for and then just become useless and well ones own little / huge problem maker there fore it is not wise to drink on meds that ae needed to heal the body
